School Story:

Wonderful memories of my friends, teachers, coaches (including Stan Buchanan who was both my (freshman) basketball coach and my (sophomore) English teacher; he was a very strong role model for me...
Also, great memories of Sylvia Jones, Doug Basham (who was also my track coach, and another strong role model), and many others. My teachers at Redwood were outstanding, setting me up for what seemed to be relatively easy work at UC Davis, UC Berkeley (graduate school; M.S. in Chemistry) and George Washington University Medical School (MD, with focus on normal and abnormal brain development and its effects on the developmental outcomes of the children).

I had a great medical career as a Neuroradiologist (a doctor who uses MRI and other techniques to evaluate reasons for/causes of abnormal brain function) at University of California, San Francisco. I published more than 200 papers and 5 text books and gave many lectures in nearly all countries in Europe and South America, as well as in Japan, Russia, China, Australia, and many countries in Africa. I retired at age 70, and am currently enjoying reading new books, spending most of my days walking in the hills of Marin County and spending time with family (particularly my wife, Karen Jernstedt, who was a Neuroscientist before we had a family) and friends. Our three sons are all physicians specializing in Radiology in California.
