I know Steve hadn't been in good shape for some time as he was paralyzed from the waist down. I saw him back in 1990 at the 20 year reunion, and his spirits were good though. He was a part of our 'Del Mar Jr High Gang' back in the mid 1960s. It's sad to see so many of those folks are now gone: Anne Fox, John Whitelaw, Steve Dal Bon, Andy Hoots, Lynne Howard, among others. RIP Steve!
steve and i go back to 1964 he was just a great guy with a great smile and a heart of gold...you're missed by all us tiburon kids....see ya on the other side aloha joe
I remember standing in the hallways at Redwood talking with Steve while waiting for class. He always seemed like a cool guy - quiet, smart, and funny. After his accident, I visited him at his parents home. He was in a wheelchair and looked uncomfortable adapting to his new reality. I felt awkward at the time becuase there wasn't anything to say that would really cheer him up. I didn't realize he was paralyzed until I saw and talked with him that day. Its one of those "Oh, shit, life as we know it is over" moments. I brought a book for him to read and left it with him. I moved out of the area shortly after and didn't see him again.
