Rick was a true original, as he fit the "linebackers' mentality" to a t. I remember coach Bob Troppman saying in later years that Rick was one of the hardest working and most fanatic players he had ever coached in his many years at Redwood. Rick stayed with football and coached for awhile at the College of Marin. Redwood produced some great football players back in those years, including Larry Blackwell,
Tom Wickert (Miami Dolphins), Pete Carroll, Ross Gondak, and Andy Anixter (class of 1971 who is also unfortunately gone.) RIP Rick. I hope they've got a good football team where you are!
